Discussion groups on the Internet dedicated to the History of the Museum of the Romanian-born Jews
A meeting of the management committee of the AMIR (The Unitary Organization of the Romanian-born Jews) was held on December 10. During the meeting, Gen. (res.) Moshe Nativ, president of the AMIR, spoke about the actions initiated in the last three months aimed at informing as many Jews with Romanian roots that now live in other countries as possible about the convention, as well as about the project of the Museum of the Romanian-born Jews.
Moshe Nagor, vice-president of the AMIR, referred to the activity of the Commission of experts that had been created in the previous meeting. Filip Paltiel Segal suggested that AMIR should organize a meeting with the Romanian-born laureates of the Israel Prize and of other national and international awards and should invite them to join the efforts for the creation of the museum.
Speeches were also held by Menahem Ariav, the mayor of Natzeret Ilit, Zvi Ben Dov, secretary general of the AMIR, Bercu Kriegler, financial manager of the AMIR, engineer Baruch Tercatin, Avi Avisar, Iehoshua Zontag, counsel Uri Adar, legal advisor of the AMIR. Before the meeting, Moshe Nativ, Moshe Nagor and Zvi Ben Dov met with Noam Yaffe, the manager of the Romanian broadcast of the “Kol Israel” radio station and with journalist Haim Tal, former editor for the “Haaretz” newspaper, with whom they discussed issues related to the popularization of AMIR’s activities in the media in Hebrew and English. On this occasion, it was pointed out that there are many Romanian-born professionals in the Hebrew media that could help to popularize the projects concerning the History Museum of the Romanian-born Jews and the international convention that is to be held next year.
During the AMIR meeting it was decided that discussion groups would be created on the Internet, dedicated to the afore-mentioned Museum and international convention. The groups will operate in Romanian, English and, later, in Hebrew.
